SAMMIE THE SNORKIE-WHY DOES SAMMIE SNIFF BUTTS?

Hello Everyone

Maybe I have too much time on my hands, but I have always wondered why dogs sniff other dogs butts and sometimes even their own! ugh

Is it the dog equivalent of a handshake and introduction? Thank goodness that evolution got us humans out of that one.

My infamous mother-in-law was here again for yet another visit....sigh

Sammie had never met her so I was a little apprehensive for their first meeting. I had hoped that Sammie would be on her best behavior, no jumping, barking etc. The thought never crossed my mind that Sammie would try and 'sniff' my mother-in-law's butt. But apparently it crossed Sammie's.........

Before I could stop her, Sammie had positioned herself behind the MIL (mother-in-law) and started sniffing away. The more my MIL tried to move away the more Sammie tried to get closer. It was a mess. I tried to make light of the situation by telling my mother-in-law to just try and let 'one rip' and that will surely make Sammie stop and leave her alone.

Somehow the humor was lost on both my husband and my mother-in-law......

Both Sammie and I are now sharing the dog house.
