Wanted to let you all know that Sammie is doing much better with her ear problems. The medicine we bought her seems to be doing the trick.
But getting Sammie to be still while putting the drops in her ear is becoming an Olympic Event in our household. We have to try and be very sneaky when it comes time for her next treatment.
We had to think of a way to get past Sammie's suspicious nature.
Since we have been giving her these drops, she's always looking to see what we have in our hand. If we just have food or a cookie bone it's okay. But if there is anything else besides treats we're holding, she'll cock her ears and gets ready to bolt for the doggie door.
Hubby came up with the idea of hiding the drops between the cushions of the couch. Easy to get to and Sammie The Snorkie won't be the wiser. She likes to take her naps on the sofa so we felt we had the perfect solution.
That idea wasn't too bad and actually worked for a few times. Notice I said 'worked '.... Seems hubby forgot to tighten the cap on the bottle the last time he used it. When he whipped out that old bottle of purple ear drops hubby was baptized with purple liquid along with Sammie. And poor Fred the parakeet, whose cage, unfortunately for him, was also in firing range.
Now my blue parakeet is purple,
Sammie has purple ears
and paws....and hubby will be calling in 'sick' for the next couple of days.
