Hello All
Yep, you read the heading right, SammieThe Snorkie, Psychiatrist to dogs.
If you have been following my blogs (and for those of you that are new here you can catch up on all of them to the right >>>>> under blog archives) you will recall that I have a Shih Tzu named Gabby that I also obtained on Craigslist.
GABS |
Gabby came to me with some issues. I mean look at the picture above, that is what the lady I got her from sent me. The poor dog was dressed up to look like a hooker for gosh sakes.
She would not eat unless you put her dish in her bed, and in a room by herself. Gabs was/is a very sweet dog but she wasn't very playful - she was only 3 yrs old when we got her so she still should have been acting like a puppy.
She would stay behind the chair in the living room or would lay down in the bathroom. The lady I got her from said she had a 2 year old son and I am thinking some serious 'teasing' was going on between the boy and Gabby.
In time Gabby started to come out of her shell a little each day. She enjoyed playing in the backyard, that is where she would really 'let loose'. lol
Enter Sammie about a year later. Sam wouldn't allow Gabby to be a 'lame' dog anymore. She would bug the heck out of Gabby to play, inside or outside. Sammie would share her rawhide with Gabs (Gabby didn't care for them till Sammie arrived) and Gabby gladly took Sammie up on her offer.
Today Gabby is a very happy, playful dog. Yes, she still has to eat her food in her bed and at times will go behind the chair, but I think that is because she needs her 'alone' time once in a while as we all do.
Thanks to Sammie, Gabby The Shih Tzu is now a 'Gabby, a semi-normal' dog. :-D
