SAMMIE THE SNORKIE - SCOOTING ON THE FLOOR

Hello Everyone

I received a frantic phone call from my friend today and I have to share this one  with you

. 

First let me say that she has never owned, taken care of or even paid any attention to a dog in her entire life which I find extremely weird being the dog lover that I am. 

In any case, she is forever calling me up asking advice about what to feed her dog, how often to bathe her, best vet etc. Today she called with panic in her voice asking me to please come over 'NOW', she thinks her dog was having a 'fit'.

I jumped into my car and hurried over there to see this:

I tried explaining to her that 'act' was not unusual for dogs to do. She asked just what exactly the dog was try to accomplish by DRAGGING his 'bum' (she's English by the way) across the floor. Now my friend is very fussy about her house which, I believe,  is the reason why she never had any kind of pets before. 

I knew if I told her why her precious Skittles (yep that's what she named the poor dog) was dragging his butt on her floor she would be grossed out for life.

I thought about it and what the heck this might be fun....I explained to her that it could be one of three things: Allergies, Anal Gland Irritation or hair stuck around his anus. 

I really don't think she heard the last one because when she heard the world Anal Gland she fainted dead on the floor. lol   

The next day we took the dog to the vet and he said the anal glands were full and they had to be squeezed. Her eyes got big and she started to sweat...I knew what was coming.  

She didn't disappointment me when I heard her hit the floor yet again in a span of 24 hours. 

Happy to report both my friend and her dog Skittles have recovered and are doing fine....until those pesky glands fill up again.  :-)
